Job Description

Our partner is seeking a Deckhand in Houston, TX. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of vessels. Responsibilities include vessel maintenance, assisting with navigation, and ensuring overall safety.

Responsibilities

• Secure barges together (laying rigging)
• Secure boat to barges (facing boat up)
• Line handling
• General boat cleaning
• Minor engine room work (oil changes, greasing, etc.)
• Painting
• Cooking
• Maintaining logs, grocery orders, and conducting safety drills

Requirements

• Willingness to be trained and coachable
• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a 3-day deckhand orientation class
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC
• Valid driver's license
• Availability to work various hours, including holidays and weekends

Physical Requirements

• Must meet "fit for duty" requirements (pre-employment physical, drug test, and MRI)
• Ability to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb ladders/stairs
• Comfort working aboard boats and barges
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work at protected heights up to 40 feet
• Exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, wind, heat, etc.)
• Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
