St. Patrick Center provides opportunities for self-sufficiency and dignity to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Individuals and families build permanent, positive change in their lives through safe and affordable housing, sound mental and physical health, and employment and financial stability. 

Working collaboratively with individuals, businesses, government and other service providers, St. Patrick Center will end chronic homelessness in the St. Louis region through Housing First, an evidence-based practice that tells us to remove barriers, do intake and assessment early, move people into housing and offer them support to achieve their goals. 

Position Summary

St. Patrick Center, a ministry of Catholic Charities, is hiring a Safety Manager to supervise, guide, and assist our Client Services Monitor team. We are looking for an individual with experience in safety and building security while working with vulnerable populations. The Safety Manager will ensure clients feel welcomed and supported upon arrival, as well as, provide guidance, develop training programs, and collaborate with community partners to enhance safety measures for all coworkers and clients at St. Patrick Center. This position is full time and the core working hours of St. Patrick Center are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. 

Overview and Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and guidance for the Client Services Monitor team on completion of duties and how to manage crisis situations as they arise.
• Schedule the client services monitor to ensure that all shifts at the Tucker building are covered 
• Work with the SPC leadership and program leaders to develop a comprehensive safety plan for all SPC locations and programs. 
• Lead SPC Safety Committee and participate in CCSTL Federation Safety Committee meetings 
• Participate in the ministry accreditation process, ensuring all safety manuals and procedures are compliant with the standards the accrediting body puts forth.
• Plan and implement a training program for SPC staff on de-escalation techniques and safety.
• Work with local law enforcement, neighbors, alders, and other community stakeholders to improve the safety at and around St. Patrick Center.
• Ensure documentation on all incidents in and around buildings are completed and tracked, notifying senior leaders of any trends that are occurring in safety.
• Use appropriate de-escalation techniques to defuse volatile persons on agency property and appropriate judgement to call “911” for emergency assistance. 
• Provide a welcoming presence to persons visiting or seeking services at SPC. 
• Assists SPC staff responding to “Red Folder” calls at Welcome Center Entrance, Client Deck, and other exterior agency area locations. 
• Other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge and Experience Requirements

• Associates degree or 2 years of experience working with the unhoused population 
• Five to ten years of Client Services Monitor related experience. 
• Law enforcement background strongly preferred. 
• Reliable vehicle preferred. 
• Valid and current auto insurance preferred. 
• Requires valid driver's license (MO residents require Class E).

• Ability to work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week.

• Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains Client Service Monitors. 
• Oversees the daily workflow of staff. 
• Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations. 
• Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with agency policy.

Pre-Employment Screening
