THE POSITION

Are you passionate about outdoor work? If so, consider becoming a Park Maintenance Worker with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. In this role, you will handle regular maintenance and construction tasks at the Lackawanna State Park Complex. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will carry out semi-skilled tasks independently or help a skilled worker with routine maintenance and construction to include repair buildings and facilities using tools from carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and other trades. In addition, you will also operate and maintain vehicles and equipment, including mowers and wood chippers used in the park. Additionally, you will construct simple forms for cement work, mix and place cement, finish it with masonry tools, and build stone and block walls. Ground maintenance tasks include mowing grass, cutting weeds, collecting litter, and moving materials with trucks. Additional responsibilities involve preparing sites, seeding new turf, and caring for trees and shrubs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal, full-time employment without benefits.
  • Will work 5 days per week, shift hours and days vary due to operational need, with a 30-minute lunch

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.



Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
