Job Description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Process Engineer with a background in Materials Science to support and optimize our manufacturing operations. This role will focus on process development, quality improvement, and production efficiency related to advanced materials such as silicon carbide (SiC) and Molybdenum Dicilicide. The engineer will work closely with R&D, production, and quality teams to develop scalable, cost-effective, and high-yield manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for advanced materials, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and high-quality output.
  • Analyze and improve process variables to enhance yield and material properties.
  • Use data-driven approaches (DOE, SPC, Six Sigma) to troubleshoot and enhance production processes.
  • Investigate and resolve process deviations, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support failure analysis to identify root causes of defects or inconsistencies in production.
  • Collaborate with operators, technicians, and production teams to implement process improvements and reduce downtime.
  • Assist in the scale-up of pilot processes to full production while ensuring process stability and repeatability.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation for production.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manufacturing steps and improve throughput.
  • Reduce material waste, cycle times, and production costs through process enhancements.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to evaluate new materials, equipment, and technologies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or above in Materials Science or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role (preferably in materials manufacturing, ceramics, semiconductors, or metals).
  • Knowledge of high-temperature processing, sintering, or chemical processing of materials.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, DOE, SPC, FMEA, RCA, etc.).
  • Ability to troubleshoot thermal, chemical, or mechanical processing challenges.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in data analysis and statistical tools.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
