  • Boston, MA

Job Description

EF Study Abroad and EF Gap Year (two divisions of EF Education First’s Higher-Ed brand family) are seeking a passionate, dynamic, and highly motivated Junior Copywriter with entrepreneurial spirit to join our Boston-based marketing team and help us (literally) write the future of international education.

Alongside our team’s Senior Copywriter and Creative Director, you will play a hands-on role in shaping our brand voice and crafting the stories that help distinguish EF from the competition and resonate with our students and university partners in the study abroad and gap year spaces.

Every day, you will work alongside a team of other talented designers, creators, and marketers to define and articulate what makes EF Higher-Ed unique—helping to tell our story across various mediums, from video scripts and website copy to blog posts and white papers, to social media and email campaigns, and everything in between.

You’ll work hand in hand with our designers to conceptualize and execute innovative campaign ideas.

You’ll collaborate with our sales team, listening to their needs and wants and continually finding new ways to arm them with the language and materials that help them to be more effective.

You’ll work with our marketing team to sharpen the headlines in our ads, develop and enhance the copy across our website, and refine our overall brand tone of voice as we grow.

And you’ll be the team’s go-to person for all things copy—enthusiastically taking on any new challenge that comes your way.

The opportunity:

Every day, each member of the EF Higher-Ed team comes to work in the best-looking office building in Boston (if we do say so ourselves). It’s a modern, inspiring environment where we get to work with incredibly talented, energetic coworkers who are dedicated to helping as many students as possible see the world and learn more about themselves in the process.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Copywriting & content creation: Develop and write compelling copy for various marketing channels, including our websites, email campaigns, social media, brochures, and more.
  • Editing & proofreading: Collaborate with business partners to review and refine thought leader white papers, traveler stories, program case studies, and branded blog content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and brand alignment.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with our design, marketing, and sales teams to produce cohesive and impactful marketing materials that enables our internal Sales and Program Development teams.
  • Brand voice development: Alongside our Senior Copywriter, you will work to craft and evolve our brand voice, ensuring consistency across all platforms and touch points.
  • Content strategy: Contribute to content planning, offering insights on messaging strategies that align with our audience's interests and our business goals.
  • Research & insights: Stay updated with industry trends, student preferences, and cultural nuances to ensure our messaging is relevant and effective.

Ideal Candidate:

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in a copywriting role.
  • Familiarity with writing for cross-channel brand marketing.
  • Adaptability and the ability to pivot alongside an ever-evolving business and market.
  • Storytelling skills and an ability to communicate your vision and ideas to others in clear and compelling ways.
  • An understanding of current media consumption and digital trends.
  • Strong editorial instincts and a sharp understanding of what makes for compelling copy across varying audiences and channels.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • A “can-do” attitude and a willingness to seek answers and push past obstacles.
  • An ability to generate ideas and work independently.
  • A desire to work in a small entrepreneurial team environment.
  • A strong portfolio of work to share that demonstrates copywriting breadth, variety, and creativity.
  • Bonus points if you’ve done a study abroad program yourself!

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $55,000
  • Commitment to professional growth: robust monthly calendar of trainings and workshops.
  • Four weeks paid vacation your first year, ten paid holidays, and two floating holidays.
  • Exciting business travel opportunities.
  • 25% company match on your 401(k) contributions.
  • Market-leading medical, dental and vision coverage, along with options for life and disability insurance, legal and pet insurance.
  • Access to fertility care and family-building support.
  • Wellness benefits including a yearly fitness reimbursement.
  • Frequent social and learning events, including access to our employee-run resource groups.
  • Robust Employee Assistance Program.
  • Tenure-based sabbatical eligibility.
