Job Description
TDAC Heating and Air Conditioning LLC is seeking an experienced HVAC service technician.
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in residential and light commercial HVAC.
- Valid driver's license with no significant traffic offenses, suspensions, or DUIs during the last five years.
- Must have a valid Social Security Card.
- Must have a current TDLR state HVAC registration certification and an EPA certification card.
- NATE certification is beneficial but not required.
- Refrigeration and installation experience is beneficial but not required.
- This position is physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, and kneeling.
- Must be able to lift 75-100 pounds repeatedly if necessary.
- Must consent to a drug test and background check.
- Participates in the technician on-call standby rotation on after-hours, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Willing and capable of continuously working the schedule necessary by seasonal job needs.
- Able to withstand extreme environmental conditions such as intense heat and cold.
- Must have one's own tools.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and coworkers by using effective oral and writing communication skills over the phone, computer, and in person.
- Ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, analyzing, diagnosing, and repairing equipment.
- Responds to service requests, drives to the site, greets customers, does preventative maintenance, and/or troubleshoots malfunctioning systems/equipment to find the cause(s).
- Perform and sell (ESA) preventive maintenance on equipment to prevent equipment failure.
- Repairs involve replacing and adjusting vents and ducting.
- Responsible to promote sales and market penetration by promoting our HVAC product line (parts and supplies, equipment).
- Responsible for promoting sales of HVAC replacement components to our customers.
- Diagnosing causes of equipment breakdowns, testing parts with appropriate instruments, disassembling and assembling parts, and making necessary repairs.
- Explain and gain customer approval for service charges and work completed to the client's satisfaction.
- Perform repairs of complete systems to include repairing, calibration, or replacing controls, switches, thermostats, gauges, wiring fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, furnace, relays, sequencers, ignitors, driers, transformers, piping, all types of motors, and other functional components of the system.
- Check the condensation drain line so that it is free of debris and draining properly.
- Order with a purchase order number and pick-up part(s) from the vendor as needed.
- Perform inspections, site assessments, and service requests, such as replacing or modifying equipment or systems, as needed or requested by customers.
- Contact your supervisor or dispatcher to discuss any issues on the job. Communicate call completion and order any necessary parts.
- Maintain and fuel the vehicle and keep the service truck stocked with necessary parts.
- Transport materials and tools to the job site when needed.
- Complete and reconcile work order documents, payment collections, vendor packing slips, fuel receipts, and weekly timesheets for the office on a daily/weekly basis.
- Provide product usage information to the consumer to ensure correct operation and preventive maintenance.
- Test repairs and installation by starting the unit and checking pressures with gauges to ensure proper operation.
- Ensure that all HVAC repairs and installs are accurate and serviceable, and that the materials and workmanship satisfy the client and company's specifications.
