Golf Course Superintendent
Golf course in Marana, Arizona is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Agronomy, this position assists with the operation of the golf course and maintenance activities including, but not limited to: turf grass/plant material maintenance programs, property/asset management, personnel management, budget/forecasting, financial management, member relations, scheduling/maintenance of irrigation systems, pesticide applications, related record keeping and compliance of regulatory issues. The position works to create an environment where staff are involved and enthusiastic, with open communications and respect for themselves, members, guests and the property.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in agronomy (turf) or 3 years of golf course experience, preferred.
Extensive experience overseeding warm season turf in southern Arizona.
Experience applying fertilizers and chemicals with boom and boomless type sprayers.
Irrigation experience, Toro Lynx central control preferred.
Supervisor experience preferred.
Ability to follow written instructions.
Ability to operate general maintenance equipment.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to hand dig in various climatic conditions (hot/cold temperatures).
Ability to lift, push, pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
Ability to stand for long periods of time, withstand constant movement of extremities, bend at waist, and perform repetitive hand, wrist, and foot action. Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and withstand prolonged exposure to sunlight and extreme temperatures and outside weather conditions (heat/cold, rain) for up to an eight-hour shift.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Compensation:
$70,000 – $80,000 per year.
