Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to provide functional administration for the Comprehensive Cancer Control Program. Plans, organizes, and facilitates the formation of cancer work groups and provides program information. Cooperates extensively with partner organizations to raise awareness of the Illinois Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (ICCCP). Plans for the efficient utilization of program resources and public relations.

Essential Functions

  • Plans, organizes, and facilitates the formation of cancer work groups and provides program information.
  • Cooperates extensively with partner organizations to raise awareness of the Illinois Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (ICCCP).
  • Plans for the efficient utilization of program resources and public relations.
  • Prepares reports and narrative information on projects and activities, develops fact sheets, and brochures.
  • Plans and implements supportive administrative functions, including fiscal management, grants management, and program development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration.
  • Requires one (1) year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year experience implementing strategies for successful staffing of outcome focused committees and workgroups.
  • At least one (1) year experience developing and maintaining successful collaboration with agencies having experience with cancer prevention and control.
  • At least one (1) year experience analyzing administrative problems and adopting an effective course of action.
  • At least one (1) year experience with the principles of governmental accounting, program budgeting, personnel, statistics, and procurement.
  • At least one (1) year experience in estimating and budgeting for future needs and cost of personnel, space, equipment, supplies and services.
  • At least one (1) year experience of oral and written communication skills in a professional setting.
