Job Title: Credentialing Specialist
Location: Summit, New Jersey
Rate: $35/hour (W2)
Shift: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM EST | 37.5 hours/week
Duration: 3 Months (with potential extension)
The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and maintaining the credentialing and re-credentialing process for physicians and allied health providers. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, internal bylaws, and all federal and state guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:Process initial and reappointment credentialing applications (approx. 125 200 per quarter).
Collect and verify credentialing data including licensure, education, training, and experience.
Maintain and update provider records in the Echo credentialing database .
Prepare credentialing files and reports for Credentials Committee, MEC, and Board of Trustees meetings.
Enforce regulatory compliance and ensure adherence to medical staff bylaws.
Schedule and, when needed, attend and take minutes for medical staff department meetings.
Manage provider dues and maintain accurate financial tracking for medical staff memberships.
Monitor license and certification expirations and follow up as needed.
Maintain confidentiality and security of all provider information.
Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Must have provider credentialing experience (not insurance credentialing).
Strong understanding of credentialing processes and regulatory standards.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient computer skills, especially in credentialing software (preferably Echo).
