Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and passionate teacher to shape hands-on learning through a wide variety of coursework to enable a transformative coding/computer science curriculum.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver Middle School introductory computer science/coding classes and Upper School Computer Science courses, including AP Computer Science
• Serve as an advisor to 10-12 students
• Serve in the school’s afternoon enrichment program by co-leading the robotics program
• Serve in the school’s residential program as a residential staff member or supporting the residential program as a day faculty with occasional weekend duty
• Sponsor a co-curricular robotics club during the school day

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science or equivalent; a Master’s degree is preferred
• Experience working with middle and high school students 
• Experience in a boarding school is preferred but not required
• Desire to be actively engaged in all aspects of a boarding school

Characteristics of a successful candidate:

• Teamwork, dependability, flexibility, willingness to listen and learn, problem-solving skills, and congeniality are essential 
• A love for teaching a wide range of students is essential to this position
• Well developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment, including students, coworkers, and parents
• Provides continual assessment of student progress and communicates academic performance through the use of reports and online grade books
• Keeps abreast of developments and research in the field and uses this to ensure relevant lessons
• Adjusts teaching methods to suit different groups of learners
• Analyzes the needs, strengths, and weaknesses of students and structures lessons and assessments around them
• Brings an awareness of best practices in computer science curriculum and uses this in planning rigorous coursework
• Ability to regularly work flexible hours to support before and after school or weekend events
