We asked Carthage College students: What’s your favorite spot on campus?

1. The Beach

“My favorite spot on campus is definitely the beach. Whenever I’m stressed or having a bad day, I love to just go sit on a rock and watch the water. It’s very calming to me.” — Eva Menzia ’25, special education and elementary education major

2. Campbell Student Union

“My favorite spot on campus is the Campbell Student Union, as it is a great place to study with friends and get food while doing so.” — Colin Graham ’26, economics major

3. Costume Shop in the Wartburg Theatre

“My favorite spot on campus is the costume shop. It’s somewhere I feel happy and welcome, and I can always find a friend or professor there.”  — Sarah Loster ’25, theatre performance major

4. David A. Straz Jr. Center/Science Center

“Without a doubt, one of my favorite spots on campus is the spacious room in the David A. Straz Jr. Center. It’s a cozy haven where you can relax on the comfortable mats lining the stairs. This inviting space has become my go-to spot to unwind after classes, catch up with friends, study, enjoy a meal, charge my devices, and simply soak in the campus atmosphere.” — Summer Zilisch ’26, neuroscience and psychology major

5. Dorm Rooms 

“My favorite spot on campus is my dorm. I am so lucky to live in The Tower this year, and all of my roommates and I made our space so cozy; it feels like home.” — Meg Schultz ’27, elementary education major

6. Esports Arena

“My favorite spot on campus is the Esports Arena in the Todd Wehr Center. It looks the coolest, and when I’m in there, it is usually when I have completed all of my work, and it is a Friday.” — Jeremy Swatzak ’26, allied health science major

7. Hedberg Library

“My favorite spot on campus is Hedberg Library. It is a great study spot that allows for me to get my work done without distraction. The study rooms in the lower level are great for study groups. My friends and I have utilized those study rooms on multiple occasions.” — Basil Kiracofe ’27, political science and studio art major 

8. Kissing Rock

“My favorite spot on campus is the Kissing Rock. It not only gives a beautiful view of the lake, but it also serves as a symbol for any organization to promote their causes and celebrate success. It is always nice to see which organization is being represented on a weekly basis.” — Sahar Kherani ’25, finance major

9. The Oaks

“I enjoy The Oaks lounges. They’re very spacious, and I often have game nights there with friends. It’s also a good spot to go and relax. In the basement of The Oaks buildings are music practice rooms that I also go to frequently to play piano.” — Maverick Leer ’26, biology major

10. Recital Hall

“My favorite spot on campus is the Recital Hall. It is a place where some of my best work as a performer has happened, whether it be for a class or when in the choir. I am always happiest when I am in Recital Hall. All my outside worries disappear, and I can enjoy the music created there.” — Danae Palmer ’25, musical theatre major

11. Starbucks

“My favorite spot on campus is Starbucks! I love being able to study and connect with my friends over a bite to eat or over coffee!” — Morgan Kelsey ’27biology major

12. The Tower Terrace

“My favorite spot on campus is the picnic area behind The Tower. Sometimes my friends and I will meet up to play volleyball, or my teammates from Blitz will show up and toss the disc around for a couple of hours.” — Tony Lule ’26, Japanese and history major
